21 pounds and a new puppy.

Sat Aug 15, 2009, 10:53 PM
Here I am three months into my diet; I am at the half way point of what’s needed of me. More than likely in four months I will have the surgery. This past month I have lost 21 pounds. I weigh 434 pounds and have lost a grand total of 69 pounds. I win at life.

Also a couple weeks ago I got a new puppy. His name is Frank and he is a Pug. Frank is 4 months old. His original family had to let him go when their apartment complex told them that they no longer allow dogs, and that frank had to go. Our mutual friend contacted me and asked me if I wanted to take Frank in. Not a week before this I had told her about how much I wanted a dog. Fate is fickle like that at times.

I took Frank in on a trial run. My brother has a Great Dane named Nash and I was not sure how they would get along. 5 days in I nearly gave him back and said that I could not take care of him. I went searching around the internet on care instructions for him and found a link entitled: “Do not get a pug”. Intrigued I had to see what they meant.

It came down to a long list of why pugs are a difficult breed to care for, and the list scared me. I was wrestling with whether or not to give him back as I was not sure if I would be able to care for him properly. I told my family this, and my sister let me know that if I didn’t take him that my niece would be happy to as she loooooooves Frank.

I still do not know what it was about that conversation but it lit a fire under my behind. I knew from that second that Frank was my dog, and that my niece could have him once she pried him out of my cold dead fingers. No matter what happens I am going to take care of him. The trial was over right then and there.

He has his quirks, but they make me love him more. Frank is my boy. I find myself for the first time in a long while happy. August of 09 is a damn fine month for me.

I am not making fun of you personally, I am heaping scorn on an inexcusably silly idea - a practice I shall always follow.
